'Baby' Clarkson horizontal engine

(1/13) > >>

Sanjay F:
At the end of last year I restored a Clarkson 2" x 2" horizontal engine and was battling with the reversing mechanism. I now have its baby brother or sister and this is a 1" x 1.5" stroke which is currently locked up. It will need the usual tearing down, inspection, rebuild followed by polish and paint and maybe some sprinkles.....

When I looked up the engine on both MEM and the internet I see that Jason has made and documented a metric version of this very engine! It looks very nice, let's see what I can do with the Imperial version ;D

Jasonb:
Looks to have been reasonably well made so hopefully just stuck with dried up oil oil.

Sanjay F:
Well, funny you should say that .......

The engine is now apart, in more ways than one - I managed to 'modify' the flywheel to the spokeless variety which I believe is all the rage these days!

The valve nut is MIA and the threads on the cylinder covers are dodgy and may need retapping. Its not looking like an engineering masterpiece, but to be honest that's what I buy them cheap so I can do them up  ;)

Jasonb:
If you want a good read ;)

Sanjay F:
That's the March 2026 issue, I thought you had completed it sometime ago!??

The flywheel on yours definitely looks better than my current one  ;D
