Well done, that's a great looking and running engine; must be especially satisfying if its taken a while to get right

 Very nice indeed Scott,
I've been looking at the water cooled version as a first build. Should suit my little Taig gear.
I don't mind a bit of fiddly stuff (eyes are still good !) and it's encouraging to hear the drawings are good. Was there anything else that you found tricky?
I've been a little put off by the high running speed on videos I've seen, but you sure have yours ticking over real nice and slow. Well done.
Regards ... Brett

Thanks, everyone.
The hit and miss governor was the hardest part. Many small parts that had to work properly together.
The biggest issue that I had was a very inconsistent hit and miss operation which caused the engine to run away.
I finally got it fixed (I hope) by making sure that the mechanism was free, but not loose. I had to remake several parts and make lots of adjustments.
The thing that helped the most was retarding the timing quite a bit - it really settled things down.
With the timing at TDC it ran so hard and fast that it shook a lot of the screws and bolts loose. I cleaned and reassembled it with red Loctite.
It still jumps around when it fires. I screwed a couple of pieces of steel to the bottom of the base for more weight and it's pretty stable now.
This one has been quite a challenge to get running right. I put it on the back of the shelf quite a few times!

Scott,
Looks great and runs as well to. Watched the series of videos and saw it as you sorted out the issues. Congrats on a runner!
