STBEAM:
Hi
Based in Kent in the UK, started with Mamod stationary engines refurbishment and moved into Stuart Turner style an have a collection of those I have yet to get setup.
Deeply confused by pipe and thread sizes. I am seeking advice on neat pipe bending and other assembly isues.
Thank you

Hi, I got some helpful info on pipe bending from forum members here:

Unfortunately some of the images are no longer visible but it might help :D

This chart gives what Stuart suggest for feed and exhaust. By cross referencing the fittings you should be able to work out what size the engines ate threaded, that is provided the builder has stuck with what the drawings show.

Welcome to the Forum
I use metric pipes and threads however there are many on here who can help with imperial sizes.

Hello from the otherside of Thames from Brentwood Essex
When you say set them up, are they in need of machining or complete and need connecting? Post some pictures we're always interested in pictures! I'm a bit a a ST addict myself making new ones and restoring old ones. I'm in the middle of making a Stuart Williamson atm. I have got a couple of pipe bending gadgets, but have yet to make anything but the simplest of bends accurately and consistently.
I tend to find the diameter pipe I want to use ensuring it'll look right for the size of engine then find the appropriate fittings again making sure they look right if they have not been specified in the design/drawings, but now Jason haas posted that table that'll come in handy for sure!
I hope you get a lot from the forum.
