Couple of things I haven't got any small enough diameter pipe to attach to the pump, however, when I rotate the pump by hand you can see the water trying to come up the large tube I've temporarily attached, so that's something

Whilst building the engine I noticed that the pins holding the arms at the rear were locking up as they tightened depending on the direction of rotation; one undoes and the other does up. I think they need longer bolts which can be fully tightened and not rotate.

I'm glad I didn't hook the pump up to an engine and run it as I think it would have caused some damage when the bolts fully locked up!  ::)

There are small tubes which pass thorugh the arms at either end so the thread of the bolt is not directly in contact with the inside of the arms

Now we're pumping!

Changed the bolts over to longer Allen head bolts (yes I will change them to hex head) so the arms don't lock up, hooked her up to my Stuart no.8 with a flat belt, primed the pump and off she pumps  ;D

The metal base is made from a casting left over from when I made the Keats Quick Set Angle plate last year and I thought it would come in handy in future...... it did

It turned out well in the end, and it's pumping water! (Who has to dry your workbench now? 😁)

I also think the pump needs to be bigger. I'll ask Ingo if he'd be interested in making larger castings. Maybe other model builders agree?

I agree, I'm not sure I would have bought the castings if I realised how small everything was. Some of the fittings like M1.6 bolts are a little too small for me, 1/2 as big or twice as big would be great.

However please do pass my compliments to the designer its a great looking engine which works well and see what else he has in the pipeline  ;)

He has a reputation for setting fire to things so maybe it's safer to leave things a bit damp!  :lolb: :lolb: :Jester:

The little sqirter has come out well. :)

As you say a larger one would be nice and could probably still be driven by Stuart size engines or maybe hit and miss engines as well. It may be that he is limited by the size of the flask for his investmet casting process

Looks good Sanjay, nicely done!  :NotWorthy:

PS The water flow looks a bit intermittent, maybe some air getting in or one of the balls not seating properly? Or maybe your inlet pipe wasn't fully submerged?

I just noticed the water was squirting near the electrics for my bench light! That could've been interesting

The plastic inlet pipe is not tight onto the copper pipe and is leaking so may be the cause of the intermittent squirting. I had to bodge it on just to get it working.

Too large a suction pipe can also see the water start to flow back between strokes so that may not be helping either. Having a bit of head to the supply also helps so like below rather than suck the water up so far have the outlet through the bottom of the tank and squirt it back in rather than over the bench or worse down your trowsers :LittleDevil:

This one was put into my radar a few months ago and is quite tempting to do.

I've ordered some thinner diameter pipe and will try again with the water at a different level,  I was a little too exicted see it in action hence no precautions taken regarding the outlet  ;)

That is a very nice nice engine and pump combo, would make a great model!

Ingo Berghammer from MBI is pleased with your success with the pump. He mentions in the video that the pump should run slower. Then he asks the group which size would be better.

I agree that a larger version would be good. Easier to hold for machining and allows finer detailing.

This one came out great!
