One throttle rod and valve, moved by two levers off the same pivot rod and same hand lever.

Annnddd, a bit of a correction. I misread the plans, which some ninny (wait, that was me.. ) drew with the lever arms stacked up in the end view. The long ever with three holes from the eccentric up to the valve rod is supposed to be TWO levers, one up to the pivot rod, then another one offset to the side that leads to the valve rod.

So, no real lost parts, all I need to do is take the short end off the long rods, and use the two throttle levers for the side ones... And remake the throttle rods the way they are supposed to be, one lever with a gap at the upper end to go around both sides of the throttle rod end fitting.   :hammerbash:   Not much extra time to redo those parts. I was moving a little too fast and misread the drawings.

Yes, that all sounds confusing, will be clear in another day once the correct shapes are made and installed on the engine! Stay tuned...

Definitely! Easier to tweak a link's age than make it fit a space too small!    :noidea:

Mr Moose has been getting some more spa treatments, and his hair is growing in on the right side of his face!

The second side always goes a bit faster, having the flow of the fur on the first side to use as a reference rather than having to stop, judge it, and sketch it in as I go.

Got the levers for the Bucyrus engine fixed this morning, and made up the new throttle lever. Here they are:

They were all located on the shafts, then drilled/tapped for some 2-56 screws to lock them to the shafts. Here they are assembled on the engine top plate. Still need to make the longer hand lever for controlling the throttle, it will go out on the end of the long shaft sticking out on the left in the picture.

And here they are in place on the engine. The lower end pivots are not connected to the ends of the eccentric strap arms yet.

Installing the bolts on the lower pivots to the eccentric arms will be next. going to take a break and tackle that this afternoon - likely will have to take apart a few things back by the crankshaft to be able to get a wrench in to run in the bolts. On the full size engine, they could just reach in the opening. Tried getting the elves to do it, but they were out partying with the moose last night, and they keep dropping the screws and wrenches.

re shop elves morning after the night before: where's that scale sized multi elf shopping cart you used to have for just such occasions? If you jam a few in, they might not be able to reach any tools...

Forgot about the cart. I was too busy hooking up the air horns under their beds...   :LittleDevil:

Well, Moose-Pucky!  (as an old friend would say when he tried not to swear too badly)

Was getting the lever arms assembled onto the Bucyrus engine, and found that the remaining metal around one of the holes was too thin and it bent/snapped.   :wallbang:   So, another small step backwards. When finishing up the parts I had realized that there was a better way (well, there are probably several alternate ways) to make up these parts that would look better, now I see that the alternate would be stronger too. So, I'm stepping back again and will remake the valve levers (the throttle one is fine). Got a shoot coming up this afternoon, so I'll start on the Valve Levers Mk-3 build tomorrow.

Stay tuned! And free popcorn up there in the cheap seats! (as Harry Chapin would always say, you can always count on the cheap seats!)

Sorry to hear about the set back, Chris.   :(

It would be interesting to see where the failure occurred, as a learning for all of us following along.  I'm certain that you'll get it sorted and that Lever Mark II will be a substantial improvement!
