Wow, the moose is looking very realistic!  The fiddly bits for the valve links are coming along too.

(I hear they serve a mean Lumberjack Float there at the Round Bar....)

Thanks guys!  Its nice to have a sculpture project going again, makes a nice change from the machining type of precision to get to a more artistic flow again.

Bulwinkle is looking great, Chris!
(At least his left side )

And the engines are coming along nicely too
Nice to have the little side project of the engines to give you something to do while your fingers recover from a furification session.  :lolb:

Yesterday the soldered-up parts for the Thew valve guides were cleaned up, cut apart, and the holes re-reamed out to clear the bits of solder that got in them. Here they are re-assembled on the engine

and after making the bushings/washers for where the pivot bolts go through each set of links. The elves signed off on the work...

That finishes up the parts on the Thew other than the throttle lever and the actual valves. Time to start making levers for all these engines. I decided to start on the Bucyrus. On that one, the eccentric arms are under the platform in the middle, so levers come up to the pivot rods and then up to the ends of the valve rods. The throttle levers start on top of the platform, and go up to the throttle rod. I started with some pieces of flat bar, and drilled the holes for the bushings and the top pivot:

and then started making up all the round bushing holders. There will be bronze bushings in the lower holder, the middle one will set screw onto the pivot rod.

These need to get loctited onto the bars - don't think it is neccessary to solder them on, no big pulling forces on them. The levers still need to be shaped on the edges to the final profiles too.
