New member from the Netherlands
« on: January 24, 2026, 07:18:45 PM »
Hello to you all from the Netherlands. This is my first message here, so I will try to introduce myself a bit. I am a retired forensic police officer, age 67 and living in the North of the Netherlands. I have many interests such as antique clocks and steam engines. I build my first steam engine (model Noks) late 1980's and since then I also build the Stuart steam hammer ( Rigby’s patented design) in the 1990's. Now having more time and a rather nice workshop, I bought me a Stuart beam engine castings set which has been lying around for many years untouched still in its original packing. The original owner for some reason never started with the build. Now I am looking forward to machine and build this beautiful beam engine. Probably I can do with some help and advise during this project

Hello Peter, welcome to MEM.

I got a lot of good advice from the Dutch book "Handbook for Model Steam Engines" by Rob van Dort. It includes the plans for the Noks. A beautiful model.

Regards, Michael

Hi Peter

I once went to a motorcycle rally in the north of the Netherlands up against the German border, at Denekamp I think. I remember there was a rather fine clock restorer in the village who had a longbed Myford.

An awful lot of Stuart kits get bought and never started. I am working on marine compound twin bought unopened from a dead club member's estate.

Have fun

Hi Peter,
Welcome to the group!
We'd love to see some pictures of your shop and equipment when you get around to it.  Also, a buld log of your adventures with the Stuart!

Glad to have you!
Kim
