I was going to say early on about my preferred method, which is to boil the part in water, which will remove the glass hard flux residue and then bead blasting with very fine glass bead. I thought that the original question posted did not want to hear about solutions that included blasting. Dave

I wonder why there seems to be no 'pressure washer' type media blasters for small parts & restoration jobs like being discussed? I believe the portable hardware store variants can deliver 2000 psi at the nozzle, obviously the water pumps must be cheap, the whole kit cost $400. We don't want a fan spray like blasting the deck, we need a more localized discharge & with abrasive media hopper. The same principle amped up slices through thick steel with ease (commercial CNC water jet cutter). And no dust! Someone get on this, my idea fee is very reasonable. Send me the functioning prototype & you can have the rest of proceeds LOL
