Proxxon RD400
(1/1)
Robert Hornby:
Does anyone have any experience with the Proxxon RD400? I have given my old lathe to my son in law along with most of my workshop. We are selling up and moving into a retirement village so no room for a proper workshop. I will have about 3 metres from the front of my car in the garage to the back wall and can fit a bench. We have some money left over from the sale so I would like a table top lathe and drill/mill.
Roger B:
I have and use other Proxxon machines which I am happy with within their limitations. The biggest problem I see with the PD400 is that most of the accessories (chucks, steadies etc) are specific to that lathe and are more expensive (but maybe better) that the ones available for the generic Chinese mini lathe.
If you have a decent Proxxon dealer near you it is certainly an option. I have had a few interesting discussions with the Proxxon technical team here about various features of their machines.
