Travis engine crankshaft query

I am contemplating building a Travis engine as my next project, this is a twin cylinder single acting engine with spool valves. As usual I will not closely follow the drawings but will adapt to use what materials I have in stock and to incorporate some of my own design ideas.

One of these ideas is to use a 270 deg crankshaft which on the face of it should result in smoother running, anyone have any experience or insight ?
