New member from Sussex England
« on: September 11, 2025, 10:20:54 AM »
Hello All,
Im a new member hoping to get some advice for a project I started over 20 years ago.
Anyone on here built the Blackmore  Bentley BR2 engine?
I started building it and got over 90% built.
Then I lost interest and built other things.
I havent done anything to it in over 15 years and ive just dragged all the bits out to have a look and try to remind myself what I built .
There are several areas that are quite challenging which i think is why I stopped work on it (volute valve springs).
I keep thinking of questions that I dont know the answers to.
Thanks
Mike

Welcome Mike, glad to have you here.
Quite a challenging looking undertaking you have there.
Looks like some stellar work so far.
Having made it this far, hopefully you can pull it off and get it running.

Hello Mike, and welcome. You will have to introduce the forum to your two tanks as well, they will be a much more appreciative audience here.

Hello Mike

 :hi: Welcome to the forum.

I see some beautiful work in that Bentley engine. Do hope you can complete it one day. One of our other MEM members, Mike Cole, will have his working example of the Bentley on display at the Midland Model Exhibition in October, but only on the Thursday and Friday. It would be good if you two could meet there and exchange notes.

It is the journey that matters, not the destination

Sometimes, it can be a long and winding road

I like the Renault tank. More photos, please.

Anyway, welcome and I hope you progress with the BR2.

There is no such thing as a stupid question.

Thanks for the words of welcome.
I shall start a build thread on the BR2 shortly.
Hopefully If have any questions someone will assist. Maybe Mike Cole if he still comes on here.
A couple of comments on my tank.
Yes, I like military modeling, but ive also been known to make the odd live steam locomotive (although i have no interest in railways).

Thank you for showing us the photographs of the very remarkable collection of magnificent models that you have constructed, enormously impressive.  Particularly pleased to see the LNWR Teutonic locomotive, a particularly nice and characterful prototype, and a delightful model.  Dave

Thanks for all the kind comments.
The Teutonic has some quite fiddly plumbing. A friend asked me how I managed to fit a trombone inside the smokebox!
