A 3-legged miniature marine engine

(1/2) > >>

Sanjay F:
I finally have a tiny marine engine with 3 legs, not the usual 4 or sometimes 2; why someone would design an engine with 3 columns is beyond me, but I'm glad they did. It also has an interesting crosshead guide which is an enclosed cylinder. I have seen images of this engine on the internet, but sadly no name was mentioned, but if anyone recognises it please shout. It didn't need a great deal doing to it, but I fixed it to some wood to prevent her taking off and she runs beautifully.

This came from an auction in a box named steam stuff with another interesting looking engine similar size to a Stuart 10v which is seized solid and is under going major surgery atm (watch this space)

I just need a mini marine engine with 1 column and 0 columns to complete the set!  ;D

Marine engine with one column:

One with zero is probably a jellyfish  :lolb:

Interesting.

Are the column and crosshead guide separate or all cast as one with the entablature?

Not sure about those Pozi Head screws, not even your antiquing methods will hide those :LittleDevil:

Sanjay F:
All cast as one, see photo

I was looking at those screws this morning and thinking the same, they were all that remained in the box; more appropriate ones ordered!  :)
