Sanjay F:
Took some time out to visit the Science Museum in London and thought you’d like to see some engines

Sanjay F:
And more

crueby:
Great pics, thanks!  I haven't been to London since 1996, before I got as deep into steam engines, would love to get back there again.

Michael S.:
Thanks for the beautiful pictures.

Thanks for posting these pictures Sanjay.  It's many years since I went to that museum - back in the 1960's, and maybe later than that, the ground floor gallery was filled with a glorious forest of glass cases, all with the most wonderful models of steam engines in them, it was a model engineer's inspiration! Many could be worked electrically by pushing a button on the case.
But then it was all revised, the larger exhibits like the big red compound steam engine was installed, obviously an exciting addition, and the museum was considerably changed about to reflect the need to feature a range of modern scientific progress.  The model engines were largely sent off to store facilities and were not normally accessible. Wonder if they still retain them?
Don't know if you had time to explore the marine galleries, used to be up on a higher floor, but there were various superb models of reciprocating steam engines displayed in that section.   Dave
