In the metric world, thread pitch is measured as mm/thread, whereas in the antique inferial systems, it's measured as threads per inch (tpi). Converting from one to another is especially simple. Dividing whichever you have into 25.4 (mm/inch) will yield the other. Some examples...
1.5 mm: 25.4 / 1.5 = 16.9 tpi
20 tpi: 25.4 / 20 = 1.3 mm
