Unknown TESA measuring device - any ideas?

My latest random impulse purchase. I have absolutely no clue what it is or whether it is complete.

Initially, it reminded me of those dual Dial gauge tools for tramming a milling machine head, but clearly, it's not that.

It has rails on the sides for sliding along something, 2 of them are the same, and the third is the other way around. Plus a little stainless cap to screw on (for some unknown reason).

At the minimum, I have 6 new-looking dial gauges and some scrap aluminium....

Here's the serial number: BF99.014
I've only done a quick google search with no luck, but haven't tried downloading old TESA catalogues yet, but I also have no idea how old the thing is...
