I think I found the problem: the loctite holding the brass end of one of the rods hadn't cured properly and it was possible to rotate it. I put 3mm tool steel through the holes of both rods, made sure they were all lined up then tried again. This time it worked. Ignore the rod sticking out of the right-hand side, it was the only bit of plain rod with a threaded end I could lay my hands on!).

Short but sweet. Good to see you have managed to get to the bottom of the problem. Came close to me thinking of making one to satisfy myself that it would run!

;D Yes, I thought it looked right in theory but finding the issue was a bit of a bugger. It'll run happily for a minute or two at present, I've just stripped it down again to clean things up and make a base etc

Got this running with all the proper parts in place, found a square of some brown material to fix it to. Added some rubber feet and put it on a rubber pad but it still wants to go walk about!

Here's a short video as there's not much to it visually (and the air hose popped off after this which is rather embarrassing so I cut that bit of the video off!). It'll run a fair bit slower than this, although not reliably at present, it really needs a good running in. Conversely it'll run like the clappers if I pump up the volume

I had a airline come off and hit me in face which I edited out of video!

He looks good, he doesn't look like he wants to move slowly  :D
Best regards

Happens to me all the time, thankfully my eyes are bad enough these days that I have to wear glasses in the workshop! A hose came of yesterday and the clip hit that bit between the first and second fingers and it really stung :'( I should take Chris's advice and make some barbs on the inlet but I am so lazy
