drawing error on Rudy K sterling tractor
« on: August 19, 2025, 11:59:07 pm »
I am building Rudy K's Sterling powered tractor. Rudy specifies the rear axle to be 6-1/4" long. Actually should be 7-1/4" long.
I made the axle 6-1/4" at first and found that it was too short when installing it . I then added up each part width and came up with 7-1/4"
Wheels are 1-1/8" wide. bull gears are .438 wide, spacers are .562 wide. 2 wheels two gears and two spacers come to 7.24"
This is the only error I have found after building several of his models.

So, that must make the body of the tractor 3" wide? (You didn't mention that.)

Seems reasonable though.

I made Rudy's Steam Tractor and found his drawings to be pretty accurate.  I don't remember any issues with them.  I'd have to go through my build log to know for sure, but I found his plans to be pretty good.  If this is the only error you've found, then that boded pretty well for it. Though it's a bummer to have to remake the rear axle :(  Sorry about that!
