The Swiss Steam Model Club
« on: May 31, 2025, 06:03:00 PM »
I went to visit the Swiss Steam Model Club ( https://www.dmc-ch.ch/ ) on the outskirts of Zürich. It’s a nicely laid out 5” gauge ground level system. Once a year around the Accension day holiday they have a gala with visiting locos from around Switzerland and Germany (looking at the registration plates).

They have packed a good length of run into quite a small space with several bridges and tunnels. There was a selection of live steam locos of various origins and some battery electrics.

Interestingly they had a rail cleaning wagon to deal with the oil dripped from live steamers which slowly wiped the rail heads with cotton bands impregnated with a solvent as well as an automatic ballast tamper with a PLC controlled pneumatic system.
Best regards

Roger

   If there were a track as nice as that near me, I am sure I could get interested in locos.
