All cleaned up, painted and reassembled. A finnicky thing to get together, with some very tight spots to get small wrenches into. I didn't time the ports - just put it together - so it would take quite a bit of work to get it running.

I noticed too that my grandfather had drilled a small hole into each of the copper tubes to allow air to escape while turning the shaft by hand. To run the engine with steam these holes would have to be plugged.

It looks absolutely beautiful, and is a wonderful conversation piece. We have great respect for the engineers and machinists of the steam age.

BTW - a few of the small screws and nuts were missing, so I replaced the cyclinder top plate fasteners with M2.5 screws. It required a quick re-tap of each hole, but neatened up the appearance of the top of the model.

Looks great John and one that is on my wish list to build in future; I hope mine turns out at good as yours. It must be nice to have something you remember your grandfather building and bring it back to spec
Best regards

Hi great to see it all back together, and  the light yellow casting that supports the crosshead guides has to be very accurately machined to line everything up !!  do you know how heavy it is ?

Thank you all. This young lad was very captivated by the engine. So many moving parts. I was about the same age watching my grandfather turning the parts on his lathe, over sixty years ago.

It weighs about 11 lbs.
