Model EFI
« on: May 09, 2025, 04:29:29 PM »
Interesting watch!    The FS A40 A is just about the exact same bore and stroke as the cylinders on the 917 model

I gotta wonder about a slide plate throttle    In any case....the 50cc scooter  injectors are $10....so I ordered one to take a look at.

Hello Dave,

If you are keen to know more about model engine size EFI systems, then have a look at:

https://ecotrons.com/small_engine_fuel_injection_kit/

http://www.uavenginesystem.com/products/small-engine-efi/

The first, offers complete kits or all the component parts (and Data sheets) to make a complete small/ model engine EFI system. Beware, you will spend hours reading about the stuff. They do not include prices, you need to ask.

Cheers

I remember the Ferrari build however the website doesn’t seem to be active anymore. I got the idea of the flame thrower test from his work.

It was some impressive stuff, thread milling the big end bolt holes in the titanium con rods, moulding his own O rings for the injectors, 40 000 rpm spindles, etc.

Flicking through the YouTube site he seems to have experimented with fuel injecting one of the oriental four cylinder four stroke engines.
Best regards

Roger

Hello Dave,

I have found another outfit who can supply EFI systems with 9mm diameter throttle/injector bodies, for engines as small as the 10 cc. RCGF 10 or Saito FG-14

Have a look at https://www.loweheiser.com/drone-efi-systems/

You may be able to find something suitable for single point injection into each cylinder bank of cylinders on your 917, a bit like the twin turbo CANAM engines, but without the turbo

Cheers

Mike

OK that looks like a Game-Changer  :praise2:

I would LOVE to hear what Injector he is using - Make and Model ????

I actually came back after a good long walk to tell about my last thoughts for Daves Problem ....
In that I concluded that a Single Cylinder Mechanical Injector Pump followed by a 12 Cylinder Fuel Distributer could solve all the problems.
Rogers Design could be the first part of the equation and a Hollow Gear driven 2:1 (same speed as Camshafts) Lapped Shaft with 12 holes 30 degrees apart - one for each injector - could distribute the Fuel to each Injector.
The Pump could also be used with two 6 point Distributors if that is more in line with the Porche Design.

Per

Interesting thought Per.   I thinking g of something g similar.  Timing and duration control would be nice

Dave

I presume timing and duration would be controlled at the pump prior to the distributor?

I also found this little gem of a channel....

The same Roger Moore who developed the miniature COP (Coil On Plug) I posted elsewhere in ignition discussion. Really fantastic work. Wish there were more updates. Something tells me he has a real job HaHa.
Roger mentions 40 psi (water) pressure in the squirt tests. Daniel mentions 0.5-1.0 bar operating pressure (~7-14psi). So differences in orifice/timing principles.

If you go back to the first video that was put out, I believe he stated it was a 50cc scooter injector.

Maybe something like this

A lot of what youre looking at is a waterproof electrical connector, and a lot of over-molded housing.....makes me wonder what it looks like with some of that taken off
