Lot's to think about there.
I'm going to stick with the Abwood for now, I spoke to the chap I got it from and he had reconditioned the whole thing and as you can see the the jaws look new. He had remachined the guideways and gibs (as mentioned by Dave), skimmed the bottom surface and checked whether everything was parallel; he'd even fitted a flatbar underneath which locates in the milling table slots. This gives a pretty good start point to get the table square.
I never used it as I was so used to using the other one and the only reason I was given it was the chap had acquired a large Bridgeport mill and the Abwood was more like a small mini-vice when it sat on its huge milling table!
