Hello from Belgium
« on: April 28, 2025, 12:38:43 PM »
Hello everyone,

My name is Pieter, and I’m pleased to join this forum. I have a keen interest in model engineering, with a particular focus on internal combustion engines and precision tooling.

I made a few modelengines from barstock. now i  started working on the Otto vertical Gas engine 1895 from castings. My workshop is equipped with a schaublin milling machine, a schaublin lathe, a fehlmann drillpress, a hauser jig boring machine and a hauser toolgrindingmachine. I enjoy both traditional and modern fabrication techniques and love swiss machines to work with.

I'm looking forward to exchanging ideas, learning new skills, and contributing to discussions. It’s always inspiring to see the craftsmanship and innovation in this community.

Thank you for welcoming me!

Best regards,
Pieter

Hello Pieter, welcome to the forum : you mention some very interesting and quality machines that you enjoy in the workshop, it would be nice to see some photos of the workshop set up in due course.  Here in the UK, these fine Swiss machine tools are rather rare!  Dave

Hello Maschinists, thank you for the warm welcome. i will try to post the build of the otto engine. i'm not so familiar with posting on forums, so please guide me if something i do is wrong. also, englisch is not my native languewitch. please, do not hesitate to correct me.
as metioned before, i build some engines from bar stock. the original design from the posted one is made by jan ridders. i did some changes, to adjust the timing and also i made it with piston rings. i do lots of designing in fusion 360. also for my daily business i use it from time to time.

for the otto engine, i have a few issues with the drawings, i am thinking of redesigning some of the main components.
i had the pleasure to had a chat with pirmin (what a very nice person)
he told me, mister dave otto has lots of knowledge on this particular engine.

later on, I will post some pictures from my small workshop i have.
