I used the thinnest Flexolite gasket paper I've got, which is 0.25mm and a scapel.

I saw a great trick on a video the other day where you push the part onto an old fashioned ink pad and then press it onto the gasket paper and it leaves the impression of the internal cutout area; or in my case the cylinder bore/valve chest internal area.
Cheers, neat trick too!

Well I've finished mine, would have been a bit quicker but that polishing took a while ;)

Wow - that's incredible! I'd buy one  :) Are you going to add it to the 'to do' list?

I think I better crack on and get this one working; I really hope I can now

Quite possibly but the list keeps growing faster than I can make them.

It's a bit different to the Norm so caught my eye.

I have the same afflication, I like the more unusual or functionally different ones.

This is where I'm at today:

- The engine is now mounted onto the columns and a base - this makes it a lot easier to both hold & adjust given the size
- The crank now rotates the banjo (see video)
- Piston has gaskets and a good seal

https://youtube.com/shorts/UGqMyZByPjE?feature=share

The issue is the connecting arm which connects the eccentric rod to the valve rod, it's not even remotely aligning even after having moved the eccentric strap to the furthest possible position along the crankshaft. If I push the connecting arm onto both pins it forces the pins out of alignment and everything locks up and I cannnot adjust the valve rod.

New connecting arm required..........I wonder if a slot may be better for the valve rod rather than a hole?

You will need some play in one of the joints to allow for the angular movement of the eccentric rod so a slack hole and the nuts not fully tightened against the plate.

Have you tried it with the eccentric swapped round on the crankshaft so the boss faces the other way?

Visually I thought it would make the position worse, however, given that the banjo was rubbing on the side of the cylinder until I turned that around, it'll be worth a try

You will need some play in one of the joints to allow for the angular movement of the eccentric rod so a slack hole and the nuts not fully tightened against the plate.

Yes that's a problem, both the holes on the connecting arm are a tight fit with no play whatsoever

Have you tried it with the eccentric swapped round on the crankshaft so the boss faces the other way?

- In the end I did turn it round as the eccentric sheave had a small bolt which was contacting the crankshaft mount.
- The eccentric was not straight so corrected that
- Had to make a second hole in the connector arm to get the valve rod and eccentric rod to fit
- this was a hole and not threaded to allow for movement and easier setting
- I had to set the timing blind by turning the eccentric a few degrees at a time and trying it

The video makes it look like there's 2 banjos working alternatively - very strange. If the engine runs the other way the eccentric switches over to the opposite side. I think that's the smallest engine my fingers and eyes will allow!  ;D
