Hello Jerry
I first met your Dad, Brian, 25/30 years ago. He had just started building the two 1/4 scale Aquila sleeve valve engines and I was about to start on my 1/4 scale poppet valve Bristol Mercury. Brian said " Why not build two at the same time, once you have the tooling and fixtures made, you may as well make a second part; it's only a little extra work. That's what I am going to do with the two Aquila's".
I fell for it, hook line and sinker and two Bristol Mercuries started to take shape. I soon realised the folly. Doing an extra crankshaft or crankcase was quite straightforward, but the second engine meant an additional 36 valves, valve guides and rocker gear. etc.

One of Brian's Aquila engines went on to win a much converted MEX Gold medal at Sundown and the Duke of Edinburgh Challenge Trophy (reserved for the cream of the cream) the next year. I believe a Spanish engine collector bought the first Aquila engine shortly afterward. As I understand it, the second engine was never completed (assembled), however the parts for the second Aquila are more or less complete.
Good luck with finding a good home for these two amazing projects.
Cheers
Mike
