After a bit of running in, tootles along at about 15psi (still haven't straightened up that right-hand support!):

Thanks Kim. I think the lack of a gland nut is making a real difference: if I put a drop of oil on the piston rods near the cylinders there's a sudden increase in speed, presumably as the oil is forming a seal. Ho hum, I live and learn! On to the next project, starting in the next day or so.

As promised in post #4, here's the plan for this engine. It's not complete by any means and some small changes were made later in the build but none of the essential dimensions changed. Proper CAD conventions have not been observed so sorry if it's a bit unclear or ambiguous in places.
