dremel bit holders
« on: February 19, 2025, 08:59:34 pm »
as my shop cleaning and re-org progresses I tossed al the dremel bits in a box, they were all about in trays, drawers, cups and just laying around,, I can get my hands on boxes that store pippet tips,, (these are normally thrown into a recyle box) placed a layer of plastic foam in the bottoms , poked the needed holes with an awl.. one box for each basic bit type,, had alot more than thought :whoohoo:

Organizing is always good if it help you to locate Tools (and other parts) when you need them  :old:

Personally I still have a long way to go on that side - but I'm always glad I did do it, when I complete another storage system.

My approach was a quick and dirty fix. Six 3 x 1" pieces of corrugated cardboard were cut. Five were glued face-to-face and the sixth was glued on the bottom to close off the corrugations of the other five. As can be seen from the photo, this allows very high packing density; I didn't have the patience to count but there's got to be 60+ bits in roughly six cubic inches of space.

PROS:

Quick to make
High density
No hole layout or drilling required
Accepts both shank sizes
Easily expandable
Zero cost

CONS:

Less rugged than wood
May require the use of tweezers to extract some burrs
Unsightly

I'm pleased with the practicality of the solution but my sense of tool artistry is still annoyed.
