Quickly built a compressor for the sream model exhibition.

Michael S.:
Next Sunday I'm going to a small event at an agricultural museum with a few models of steam engines. There is no central compressed air supply there. I remembered that I still have a compressor from a cooling system and two compressed air containers. There was also a main switch for the electrical system and a safety valve.  The safety valve opens at 3 bar. There are no switches for an overpressure shutdown. (I will add it later)
The containers have a maximum permissible pressure of 10 bar. Since the air volume from the compressor is very small, I think it's ok.
I converted an old heater vent as an air filter. There is filter cotton inside.
The advantage of the compressor is that it is very quiet. I will test it on different model engines.

Interesting! It looks like the same kind of compressor that is in a refrigerator?

Michael S.:
Yes Chris, these are those compressors from the refrigerator or freezer. I've already used two of them for the same purpose. Sometimes they run at exhibitions for almost 6 hours at a time. They then get quite warm and then switch off briefly. They have internal thermal contact. The oil level needs to be checked every now and then.

Looks like it should work fine for a show with small Steam Engines

Enjoy the Show Michael and please share a few pictures afterwards

Today there was a small exhibition with steam engine models at a castle near me. There is also a museum for agriculture and agricultural machinery there. There weren't many exhibitors in the museum but it was fun. Old tractors and two steam plows were on display under a shed roof. And a stationary R. Wolf steam engine. The refrigerator compressors have proven themselves well.
