Tailstock Taper Stuck
john mills:
the threaded shank arbore was for milling where a draw bolt is used the drill arbore for tail stock have the tange for the knock out screw if you put the threaded shank in the tail stock it is not long enough the tang in the end is not intended to drive the tool and mostly if jammed or the taper is not able to drive the tool the tange just gets sheered of it is important to make shore that the taper is in good condition be for fitting often they are dented
or bruised from rough handling or scored from spinning when not fitted correctly the tapper will drive a lot more than the little tange
the tange is not the drive.

I bought a very cheap 3-MT reamer from eBay - its chipped hence the price, but the bit I need, the fat end is fine and even though visually it doesn't look like its made a difference after I used it, the chuck, die holder and other bits are ejecting a lot smoother without having to be bashed! ;D
