awesome purchase. just check if there are any zamac /zink parts on your machine and if so check for cracks, older emcos have one problem, called Zinkpest in german. the zamac alloy has impuritys and somehow a internal oxidation letds the parts crumble. from the outside not visible but it is vwery common. emcomat7 and prior machines i often see this issue. but beside that, they are perfect model engineer machines,  i am a emco user myself and love my compact 8

Not unlike the Emcomat 8.6 I used to have. Luckily never had a problem with the zinc castings or two speed motor switching. The zinc problem is more likely if the machine has been in a damp workshop.

Although the name says V10 there is quite a lot about the 7 & 8 on this group.

Thanks, Jason. Here is a photo I took while cleaning the lathe/mill, before I set it up. I am still in process of setting it up.
