Side Lever Steam Engine

cheepo45:
My Side Lever engine is complete and running!

The plans were in Home Shop Machinist magazine in 2008.

This was a more challenging build than I thought. It took me almost a year of spare time.

There are many small parts and the plans were in metric so I had to do a lot of converting (which is good to learn);)

Hope to see some of you at the Cabin Fever show in January.

Terrific job! Thats a mesmerizing  action, lovely sound too. Congratulations!

redhouseluv:
Amazing, I just looked it up, I never realised how small it is; great job especially having to convert everything to Imperial

An enchanting engine with an appealing shape to the side levers which I will put away in my mind for a future design. Would you be kind enough to pass on a few dimensions, e.g. bore, stroke, flywheel diameter, length and height. Home Shop Machinist is unknown to me, I presume a U.S. publication??? Congratulations on a beautiful job. Regards, Paul Gough.
