I hope this is a suitable place for this post.    Being old and thick :headscratch: :old: I need someone to detail step by step how to put pics onto the Forum "simply"    A Samsung phone replaced my old camera some time ago but the method used to put some pics on recently was long winded and I may not remember how to repeat it!             Terry

Hi Terry,

When we post here, we get a text box, which is where I am writing this. Below this box it says +Attachments and other options: if you click on this it will enable you to attach a photo to your post just like looking for a file. But please make the attached photos small.

The other option if you want to make your photo available to many sites then you can use a third party hosting site. AdeV has given us an area on the same server as this forum which can be reached here: https://lister-engine.com/coppermine/index.php you can safely post your photos and know that they are safe with the forum threads and they will not get exploited as you own the copyright.  There are lots of other free sites like https://postimages.org/ who will host your photos but check the copyright and we all remember what Photosuckit did all those years ago .

Jo

P.S. I host my Sewing photos on Postimages here: https://postimg.cc/gallery/YmMdyGD I accept that they may not be available for ever

Enjoyment is more important than achievement.

The easiest way to add pictures is to attach them to the end of your post.  You can do this by clicking on the "Attachments and other options" just below the text box for your new post (see the first pic).

Once you've done that, it will open and show you other choices.  You'll want to use the "Choose File" button below the word Attach (see second picture).  This will let you pick a JPG from your hard drive to post.

If you want to post more than one picture, click on the "(more attachments)" just below the "Choose File" button and it will make another spot to choose a file for you.  I believe you can add up to 8 attachments to a single post.

Hope that's not too wordy!

If you install WhatsApp on your PC you can send the pics to yourself via WhatsApp on your phone or you could email yourself which takes a bit longer
Best regards

You should be able to connect your phone to your PC with the same cable you charge it with.  It should show up as a drive on your PC and you can copy pics from that to your computer.  If you have an Android phone, this is pretty straight forward.  If you have an Apple phone, this is a mess as they use some bizarre hashing algorithm to store the photos, so it can be quite a challenge to find what you're looking for that way.  There are some apps that you can use to download pics from your phone to your PC, though I'm not familiar with them.  I do it the hard way on my wife's phone. I'll have to let someone more familiar with that tell you what apps to use.

Another option is to use TapaTalk.  That's an app you can download on your phone and it works with the forum software that we use here at MEM.  With that,  you can compose your posts on your phone and attach photos from there without having to transfer them.  Or alternately, you can compose your post on your computer, then you might be able to edit the post on your phone and add the photo attachments... Just a thought.  I don't really like Tapatalk.  I didn't find it very friendly to use. I prefer using the browser interface on the phone.  Actually, now that I said that, you can probably attach photos through the browser interface on your phone and not have to transfer them.   The only problem here would be that the pictures would like be huge.  I don't know how to edit the photo size on your phone, though there is likely a way, I'm sure.

Good luck in figuring out how to retrieve your photos from your phone!

Don’t waste your time with Tapatalk. The integration has been broken for quite a while. You can’t even look at this forum on the app anymore.
