A Dynamo for the novice

(1/1)

Alyn Foundry:
Several months ago I approached Jason Ballamy with yet another idea, pretty sure he’s a little fed up of them by now. 😃

A Dynamo that could be printed up in Plastic that could then be fitted with virtually any size of DC motor you can find on eBay. I chose a couple of different sizes but the machine itself is borrowed from Vincent’s Retlas Manchester Dynamo. This was recently presented in a thread written by Andy ( Chipmaster )

Effectively it’s designed for just about any prime mover, be it steam or IC and built with just a few hand tools, ideal for  novice or experienced alike.

The parts are printed with a decent wall thickness and 60% infill. All holes pre drilled and suitable for tapping with Metric threads.
I have attached a couple of examples to this post.

We used our pattern maker Orange colour for the prototype but obviously these parts can be painted, just like the Airfix kits of old. The coils could also be served with twine for extra effect.
Harebrained scheme or What?

   Graham.

Jasonb:
Definately a What rather than hair-brained, I've just sent you an email

What a painted one might look like, though you are unlikely to find me using green paint ;)
