Wow, really impressed, especially having watched how methodical and careful you've been through each process
Best regards

Oooh, thats all pretty!  The washers have great detail, much better than just flat discs. That second picture makes it look like its silver plated.

Hi Kim, it really looks very elegant. Now I realize how big the watch is.

Do you have any concerns with corrosion from dissimilar metals in contact?

Hmmm.... No.

But that may be due to my inexperience and a lack of knowledge. Should I be worried about that?

      If corrosion was a concern at all, you could reduce the likelihood of it just by assembling things with a coat of silicone grease in the joints, or dielectric grease. A good coat of paste type floor wax on the aluminum plates will help them stay bright too. Just food for thought on no-stress Sunday!

What other metals does aluminum react with? We are not usually  using things in salt water, but humidity is a factor?

Seems like stainless steel shouldn't be too creative with humidity, or even other metals.  The only other metals that I'll be using besides aluminum is some W-1 Steel for the bearings.

Hmm... interesting thoughts.  I'll have to keep my mind open on this front.

Over the weekend I completed the Top Pillar:

And today I completed the Bell Standard and the Finial.

Someday, there will be a bell between the top of the Bell Standard and the Finial.

I freehanded the Finial – a little lathe Etch-A-Sketch and a lot of filing.  I think it came out pretty nice!

There’s still the Back Cock and supporting pieces, which I consider part of the frame.  But I can’t shape the Back Cock till I can shape the inside of the upper part of the frame.  So I’m going to leave that till later.

So next up will be the barrel for the main spring.  That’ll be fun!
