Britannia drawings

(1/1)

whitby2003:
I'm looking to build a 3-1/2" Britannia Loco. and was wondering were I can get good detailed plans. I've seen the ones that Reeves offers and was not overly impressed with the detail of them. They did not show the radius of any corners and the dimensions seem to be random to actual drawing scale making it hard to even come up the a decent guess to what it should be. The drawings for the tender are not even of the type used on the Britannia. Maybe I am expecting to much out of these drawings. Any input would be welcome.

Jasonb:
I doubt you will get better. They are of their time but the important dimensions should be there.

Would also be worth getting the old issues of ME that it was described in as there are likely to be details mentioned in the text that are not on the drawings.

Zephyrin:
this 3.5’ plan from LBSC is mainly designed for a running model; further detailing is added (or not) by the builders thanks to the countless photographs and documents easily available on the net.
I've already seen some wonderful models of this loco on several occasions, and they were really well detailed, in 5" gauge.
maybe from these plans :

Thank you for your input. I did check with ME on some back issue (104-109) featuring the Britannia but was inform that getting copy's was not an option. I'll just push forward with doing more research and use the knowledge of others to help me get there. It will take longer to get there and I hope I have enough time left.

Jasonb:
You can often pick up whole volumes of Model Engineer on ebay or some of the second hand sellers.
