Hi from the East Midlands

Lord Hastings:
HI MEM, I have been into model engineering since retiring a few years ago and have now built a number of stationary engines - Oscillator, 10V and Stuart Beam, all of which I run on steam generated by a Stuart 504 boiler; i have also just completed the Stuart Dynamo, the build of which I documented as I could find virtually no information on this - if you're interested have a look on the ME forum under 'Beginners Questions' - I started quite a long running thread there.

Workshop wise I have a Warco 280V lathe, a Myford Super 7B, and a Warco Mill/Drill. I have also recently purchased an Axminster metal cutting bandsaw, which I now wished I'd purchased a while ago!

I fancied something different to build next and found the Reeves 'Hall's Rotary' which is a fascinating design, and then found MEM by searching for construction notes and tips from previous builders. I have now purchased the castings and drawings from Reeves and will be starting in a few weeks - but before that I plan to remake a few parts on the Stuart Beam to improve the design of spindles, piston & ring, and then couple it to a small working 'loom' (toy knitting machine!) for amusement purposes.

Thanks to all who have contributed to the Hall's Rotary threads, some great info there to help me plan and build.

 :hi: Steve,

You will find it an interesting engine to build. I hope yours doesn't have the annoying click mine has as the Piston seal goes round

Welcome to the forum.
I also incorporated my own ideas into the Stuart Beam.
