My SMIT Nederland Tugboat
« on: October 09, 2024, 06:53:47 PM »
Perhaps some members would like to know what I've been doing since I finished the Triple?

A lot of detail to do yet, but I am enjoying muself, and it makes a real change! Yes, the lights work and the radar scanner rotates! AND it has two Mtronics brushless motors driving props through Kort nozzles and Becker rudders.

Cheers
John

The ship looks good. I think the building was a welcome change after the steam engine.
(Actually, I should also activate my harbor tug again. But I have to install a new remote control.)

Nice progress on the tug! Are the Kort nozzles steerable too, or fixed with seperate rudders? (sorry, dont know what a Becker rudder is)

The Kort nozzles are fixed, and the Becker rudders have a connected tab (flap)  at the rear that increases the steering angle as the rudder is turned, thus enabling the ship to turn like a London taxi!

Ah! Yes! I've  actually  built some of those on submarine  models, never knew the name! Just copied what I  saw on some old boats.
