 The engine is a 1908 Fiat 50 HP OHV V-8 SA8-75 air-cooled aircraft engine. A single surviving example can be found in the French National Museum collection. Unfortunately there appears to be very little information available about this remarkable little engine. Here are a few scraps of information I found.

What an interesting little engine - even more so that it was designed way back in 1908.

I suspect that the rearmost cylinders got pretty hot given the heat from the other cylinders was blown back on them.

kind of looks like where VW got their cooling shrouds design from, wonder if there were baffles in the shroud to help pull air from the top for the rear cylinders,, the prop would have provided air for the front..
