That looks awesome, Chris!  So much stuff crammed into that little gearbox!

Can't wait to see it all in action!

      Great news about the linkages and clutches working OK Chris!

If the shop elves are hanging around I'd tie off the boom to avoid that turntable turn / whack!

Thanks guys!

CNR - I tried hanging them from the hoist cable, but they kept trying to re-enact that scene from Pirates Of The Carribean where they swing the cages back to the cliff side...   :Jester:

Wow, this is amazing work Chris. I’ve been trying to follow along with all your builds, but that takes time lol.
I need to retire so I can get my stuff done at home…silly work gets in the way 😡
Good thing I like building up helicopters though 🙂

Well, at least the slew and travel functions can be seen in the video. The derrick drum does rotate, as does the hoist drum, but till the rest of the parts are made and hooked up its tough to see in the video. Thats a win!

Thanks  Kim!  Just got a start on the bars t9 make up the upper gantry to hold the pulley sheaves to hold the cables up to the top of the boom, so I can  install them to the derrick drum.

Amazing progress Chris!  Love the video.

earlier comment: "top down in my Miata, nice sunny day, and lucked out that the jets were taking off in formation on afterburner, they went RIGHT over my head - could not have timed it better. Though I nearly drove off the bridge since I was looking up as they blasted over!"

It's the season to put the top down, only I wasn't seeing jets on the back roads but birds - red tailed hawks, ravens, and a few bald eagles.  But yes, keeping my eyes on the road vs. up in the sky is something I need to remind my self.  :embarassed:

Things are (slowly) warming up around here, we've had a few days of great weather before roller-coastering back to cold again, back up to warm, back down to cold... The usual in this area. Lots of birds here recently too, we are on one of the big migration paths and stop-overs for birds heading north of the Great Lakes into Canada. They stop over in the wetlands on the south shore of Lake Ontario and on the smaller finger lakes to rest/feed before crossing Ontario.

      Crane's working fantastic Chris!  Glad the tests went so well, really fun to watch the motions. Bucket Bob looked a bit scared riding the boom but Lifting Larry was having a ball on the ACME weight!

Was beautiful here yesterday, I was out in the sun in a T shirt, very warm, really enjoyed it. Today I had my coat scarf and hat on again, and it was freezing, with snow flurries hail and high winds. Oh and a huge flock of birds went by with a "We Love Rochester" banner streaming out behind. They left about a bushel of calling cards, and I had just washed the truck....
