Starting with a Stuart Beam Engine
« on: January 25, 2026, 06:21:43 PM »
Dear model friends, this is my first topic on this forum. It is also my first attempt in the last 20 or so years machining and building a Stuart engine. I already made the flywheel etc, turned out to run very nice not any wobble  :cartwheel:. I will try to take many pictures and make some video's of my progress. Hope you will enjoy, and I am always open for helpful feedback!

The pictures are great but I'm not a Facebook user (and never will be) so I have no idea what the URLs refer to.

Just a quick update. I really enjoy working on this lovely machine. Today I started with the column. I made bronze bushings in the beam. Happy with the result so far!

Coming along great!  Have you decided whether to paint or leave it bare metal?

Looking great I'm in the early part of a Stuart Williamson engine, with flywheel, crankshaft and eccentric complete (about the same stage as you)

The Stuart Beam is looking very nice indeed
Best regards

Sanjay

@ crueby: I have not decided yet painting etc. But I think I leave the column metal, like that the most.
