Wallaby carby advice.
(1/1)
LANTAIN1982:
Seeking advice on a suitable carby for a recently completed Wallaby.
The simple single jet unit fitted does not meet the needs for starting and ongoing running.
Have thought about the Howell twin jet design currently fitted to my Howell V 4. But is this large enough?
Is there a published design or a commercial item that a Wallaby builder could recommend?
Thanks in advance.

My engines with a 1.00 (25 mm) bore use a carb with approximately a .187 (4,5mm) borland run fine
Roger B:
The Wallaby as designed for the 1831 3 1/2" gauge locomotive had a compensating carburator. The plans are available from Hemingway, you may have to enquire for just the original carburetor:

The original article recommends using the Kiwi Carb (Drawing PE 12). The Atom type R carb (PE 8 ) is identified as an alternative but is not as simple as the Kiwi Carb to set up.

Many thanks for the response.
I will go with the Howell design as I have the details to hand.
