Thanks to all that helped, i got hold of Marvin's workshop utilities, It is a gem that can not be lost. Needless to say I downloaded the whole lot onto a hard disk and backed it up as well. I have used a few of his utilities with great success, and would possibly have a very hard time with some machining procedures without these. Thanks Marvin !!

You're quite welcome, Johan.  I'm pleased to hear that you're finding them useful.  Feel free to contact me if you have any mathematical problems with which I might help.

The site has been up for many years and has received very little attention so I'm not motivated to keep it alive.

It did manage to make it's way into This Old Tony's video on Springs :)

Not sure if you guys are aware, but Marv's utilities have been converted to a Web-UI page - everything organized and works on any web browser.  No more DosBox or other convoluted means necessary to run them.  Here's the link:  https://mkutils.com/   Thank you Marvin for all your wonderful tools!  I use some of them almost daily (boltcirc for example), and others sparingly but they are ALL VERY USEFUL!!!

This is great news (to me)!  A huge thank you to the person(s) that saved Marv's work from the dust bin of "progress'.

Something is amiss with the Gage Block Stack-Up section.  Tried the default dimension 2.7834 and got a basically worthless answer of 2.75000 with a remainder of .0334.  See the first screenshot.

Thought that was extremely odd so I fired-up dosbox and ran the original program and got the correct answer with a 0 remainder.  See the second screenshot.

It seems some bugs exist and I see no way to provide feedback to the author of the web page.

Hi Krypto,

I've emailed Rod with a pointer to your post and a request to provide some means on the site to contact him if more problems arise.

For obvious reasons, I'd rather not publish his email address here.

I'm really puzzled...

I sent Rod the email about the gauge block stack problem on 28 March.  Not receiving a return, I sent an "are you OK?" email on 8 April.  So far I haven't heard from him on that query either.

Prompted by my experience with the deceased host of my old web page, I checked the obituary notices in Sheridan, Wyoming (Rod's home town) but found nothing there.

There's all manner of possible explanations.  Family emergency, medical problems, business complications, etc.

Despite the absence of communication, he seems to have become aware of the gauge block problem.  I just checked and that routine now works correctly on the new page.

Maybe he's just overcome with work and has not had time to respond.

I'll keep you informed if I learn more.

Regards, Marv

You are right, the bug has been fixed!

Things happen, I know I've lost contacts and emails before.
