Large Skeleton Clock
« on: August 28, 2024, 02:19:38 PM »
It has been a while since I posted anything here so here goes....

I find a box in the basement a couple of days ago and had no idea what was in it. Imagine my surprise when I found the bits and pieces of a printed clock. Once I saw what it was I remembered printing it  but I have no idea why I put it away without assembly.

Anyway there were only 2 parts that I hadn't printed so I got those going and put the thing together. The first run was not successful so I took it apart, did a couple of tests, and found that the bearings hadn't been degreased as good as they could be. An overnight soak in some degreaser, assembly again this morning, and when I hung it on the wall, away it went.

This was made from odds and sods of filament so it is quite multi coloured. I might do this one again, only in a better colour scheme.

Take CNR6400 with you when you go.  Have someone lock the door from the outside.

What a delightful re-discovery from the basement. Looks a very attractive piece of mechanical animation for a blank spot of wall. Regards, Paul Gough.

Thanks Paul. It is interesting to watch this clock work as it is all open. It can be a bit hypnotic after a bit.

I still cant remember why I didn't assemble or try to run this one, but with only having to print a couple of parts, it si the best running one yet I think. I am encouraged to do another in more consistant colours this time.

Cheers

Tom

Hello Tom, Clocks of this type and tower clocks have always been a very tempting proposition for me but have never had the opportunity to get into horology. Too many other things encroach on time etc. I am with you in that they are enchanting and mesmerizing aparatus with considerable aesthetic appeal. I have seen some lovely wooden examples too. Good luck to you in developing more designs.  Regards, Paul Gough.

Morning Paul.

I must explain that I am not the designer of these clocks. I simply purchase the plans and go from there. It is all done by a gentleman that is much smarter...

No shame in being a constuctor and enthusiast, most models of any sort are from existing plans and provide endless pleasure during and after construction. I am tempted to join with you and get a set of plans! Thanks for the web address. Regards, Paul Gough
