Hello Michael, 4.30 am and heading interstate for a few days after coffee and replying. Thanks for the videos and your comments. Points 3 & 4 might be worth investigating as it would save a lot of time, I don't know if anything commercial is available or suitable for my purposes but will certainly check when I get back. Getting slowly through Josef Reineck's Diesbar engine book. His multi sleeve cylinder is a novel means of dealing with the steam circuit and the construction description is pretty comprehensive, so a good purchase.
