Compact arbor press for the shop

Starting on a compact 3+ ton arbor press.   Screw type

With the rain the last 2 days, I've got a start with cutting the 1" x 10 ACME nut for the screw

Samantha Bell needs a good shoveling out I'd say....

Is that brass for the nut? Will that take that kind of pressure? Though I can't tell the size - looks like about a 1" screw?

1" x 10 ACME  about 2" Of engagement.   I suspect it will outlive me....

....Then again,   i know a guy with a lathe.....

As I was involved in a layoff recently, I've got some time.

The weather has been great, so I've been working on the boat ...and my tan

As I get rainy days, and I'm not interviewing....I'll get more done on the arbor press

The idea is to have a smaller lighter press that I don't need to station on the bench all the time.   I want to hang it on the side of the bench when not in use so that I can use the bench space when not in use.

Sorry to hear about the layoff, Dave.  Layoffs are NEVER any fun.  I've been there done that several times myself.  And it's no fun.  I hope you the best in your search and that it goes quickly and smoothly!
