That saw table looks a lot like the one I had  on my first lathe many many moons ago, a Unimat SL. I used it for sawing lumber for ship models for years.

What ships did you build?

Mainly sailing ships, the Leon to Underhills books, a Young America clipper ship, and a 74 gun French ship of the line were the big projects. A few radio control ones along the way too.

I've always thought about an old Naval canon ship. That's a whole lot of time!

That table on the lathe looks like a mini version of the ShopSmith!

I never thought about that before. Seems like a pretty good idea though!

That saw table looks really handy, might have to look into making one

I've got to make the mandral, then I'll give it a go.

Got some time to work on the new crank. I modified the original crank jig and turned the crank today. Everything turned out good so far, and it's to the spec on the print, other than the taper section. I'll be using key stock for that.

Started working on the bearing blocks. Got both blocks to the outside dimentions shown on the print, now I need to drill the center hole and get them in the lathe to turn the flanges to spec.

Basic machining of the bearing blocks are done. Still need to figure out just how much still needs to be machined off of the base to get the crankshaft center in line with the center of the cylinder. Mounting and oil holes still need to be done as well.

Decided to work on the crankshaft counterweights next. I used emery on them to get a nice flat surface to dial them in on the lathe for the first cuts.

Next was some mill work. I used a boring bar to face the other side of the counterweights.

Couple more. I drilled the center hole first, and used them to mark the crank.

Once the counterweights were secured, I finished the machining process in the lathe.

Still have to machine the rod excentric before I can get the bearing blocks finished up and bolted down.
