another option for the oil pump

It looks as though the pump stroke can be altered at the scotch crank. The 'flipping' plug valve is different. First I have seen a mechanical lubricator with any form of mechanically operated valve. The drawing does not show the usual second pawl pivoted on the frame to prevent the ratched wheel from turning backwards. I don't see why the oil passages are so small. Did the designer think the oil was thixotropic?!
