Interesting Small Railway
« on: June 30, 2024, 11:14:19 AM »
Pauline and I have been visiting the Grand Tour Photospots around Switzerland since Covid time. We keep nearly finishing and then they add a few more  ::)
At Stein am Rein we found and interesting dual gauge park railway. The running stock was on 7 1/4 inch gauge however it was built with 15 inch gauge as well to allow the stock from a closed railway near Luzern to be run. There was a battery electric model of an RhB baby crocodile with a driving trailer and a 0 8 0 steam loco based on an O&K prototype.
The system was fully signalled and operated according to the Swiss system with wheel detectors to confirm the track circuiting.
Best regards

Roger

The valve gear on the O&K was quite interesting in the way the reverser was linked to the valve rod. They also had a special carriage for wheelchairs.
The joys of dual gauge points and turntables  :headscratch:
Best regards

Beautiful pictures.
The Swiss crocodile is my favorite electric locomotive.

I made my first trip to Switzerland in May. My traveling companion is my new GF, half Swiss(her dad) and half Mexican. Yes an odd mix but it works!
I LOVED everything about the trip and the country. One of the things that will have to wait for the next trip is a visit to a club like you show. The Swiss Steam Park looks amazing!
Thanks for posting this!
