Hello from Brazil!
« on: June 05, 2024, 10:40:37 PM »
HI!
My name is Sidney and I live in Brazil, I am retired from the 3D video production industry and have always been a lover of machining and had it as a hobby along with model airplanes and old motorcycles, today I have a small workshop with a manual lathe, drill press column and an adapted CNC milling machine.
At the moment I have in mind to build a V-Twin engine to power a bicycle in the style of the first Harleys and Indians.

Hello there, and welcome!
If you are interested, I have drawings for a V-twin based on the early Curtiss motorcycle engines posted in the Plans and Drawings section. I guess it would have to be scaled up a bit to power a full size bicycle though.

Hello Sidney and welcome to the MEM forum  :hi: :hi:

Tell us more about your ideas to build a V-Twin engine to power a bicycle. What size of engine are you thinking about? Is it intended just for show or are you wanting it to travel on the main roads?

Hello Sidney
250 - 300cc for use it in the roads would be a like a full size motorbike. Perhaps it would be better to base your design on a full size motorbike engine, gearbox and clutch instead of one of our simplified miniature model engines. Sorry, I cannot tell you where to look for the design details.

Boa sorte com sua busca

Mike!
Full size complete engine plans is almost impossible find and a bit complex.
I want to try one V-Twin model and increase the size, i see some bigger Hoglet and appear very good.
I am searching for 45 degress model with enclosed cranckshaft and rockers and an oil pump

Have you discovered these plans from draw-tech    https://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/threads/draw-tech.29067/

There are also two good build threads

Thank you Mike! ;)

If you make all the parts twice as big (X2) as shown, you get a displacement of 290cc

Now all you need is a clutch and gearbox to match
