Hi troops
I've had one of the above for some 4 years and I've just noticed the top-slide has an angular scale on it but .... there appears to be NO fiducial mark which, to my mind, negates the whole idea ....
My Myford S7 has a fiducial on the cross slide, used it on a good number of occasions to machine tapers that need to be about right.
Or am I missing the obvious ???

I had a Myford where the line had worn away. And I currently have another one where the line is so faint as to be almost invisible. Perhaps the lines are added after assembly, rather than when making the cross slide.
When you're got it all square and are marking a line, it's handy to have another at 30 degrees, or some useful number - for when the primary line is covered by the top slide.

I've had mine for about 13yrs. There is a short mark on the cross slide nearest the operator but as I usually have my top slid towards the middle of the cross slide I just took a square and scribed a longer line.
It's only a guide I always clock my topslide parallel as I like it that way to put on a cut and if an angle is critical will clock that in too.

The line in my 1971 S7 is still quite distinct. Maybe the Myford fitter had an extra Weetabix when mine was done :)
The Myford top-slide can only be in one position whereas the Warco one can be just about anywhere on the cross-slide. So Jason's fix of scribing a line is quite valid.
Thanks, Jason . You're right. Pitiful little scratch right at the front end. :headscratch:
If you hadn't told me I doubt if I would have seen it. :old: or :wine1: ... choose.
