Hi Per,

Yes one day ! I’ve got a mahogany rc boat to finish first, I get side tracked pretty easily!

I think I will set up a base to run it on for now and display :)

That is certainly moving - but at the most likely Propsize, that is also needed  ;)

To be fair to the engine it is now making some power !

You can’t easily stop the engine via the 1/4” shaft in either direction….
I’ll check it on steam and see if it will run at say 10psi and if it’s got good power at 45psi I may call it and crack on with the bigger version ;) of course making good valves again will be key

Here’s a short video of the boiler I have made for this size of engine ;)

The boiler is good as a test boiler and can be later fitted to a boat of around 36-42”

I will photograph the finishing to include lagging, better burner, wood cladding and flue

I had forgotten some what that i designed the boiler to share the top Flue/register with another model !

Reason being it was a success and simple , just two M3 nuts and you’re good to go ! Access dead easy…
The wood I may go with is Cheery for a change, It slips under the flue nicely

I had forgotten that I went with mahogany for the engine so I had brought more for the boiler a while back ;)

Fitted nicely! Just need some boiler banding material. The plant weighs 2.4kg and would be great on RC

I did a quick steam test just to see how good or bad the valves make the engine run !

Safe to say luckily it runs super ! You can now hear the beat of the steam clearly in each stroke and not just the bypass hissing sound you typically hear with piston valves , Im happy to leave it there and set up on a little display board and enjoy seeing and hearing it run slow …. It also ran on low pressure too so all good there

Thanks chaps ;)

I’ve enjoyed this one ☝️

Here’s a short video of the boiler in operation !
All went well and I used my mk1 puffin to test , it makes plenty of steam just on 1/2 - 3/4 gas tap open, relief valve set to 60psi as the hydraulic test was at 120psi

Last job is to bolt down the boiler to its base and engine, I will probably pair these together as you see them as for RC use the oscillator engine is a fair bit more powerful and uses less steam …..
